In Pinellas County Florida there are over 8,000 Real Estate agents. Just in our one office in Downtown St. Petersburg there are over 250 Real Estate Agents. So odds are, that you may already know someone who may be a Real Estate Agent. It’s also possible that you may meet real estate agents while you are attending open houses ( see Part 1 – Starting Your Home Shopping Process ). It’s important that you take your time to figure out which agent is the best for you. Keep in mind that just because you know someone, it does not mean that they are the right fit for you.

One of the most important qualifications of an agent is their understanding of the Real Estate Contracts in Florida. Regardless of how long the real estate agent has been in the industry, it’s important to talk to them about the contracts. You may be surprised, some new agents may know the contracts better than seasoned veterans. There are two Real Estate contracts in Florida, and each one has a various addenda to go along. Therefore, there are periodic changed to real estate laws and regulations, and it’s important that the realtor is up to date on these changes.

When hiring a real estate agent it also important that you talk about how you will work together, and what expectations you will have of one another. Will you expect communication at 11:45pm on a Sunday evening or 6am on a Monday morning, or both. At times, buying a home may seems very stressful, having a compatible agent will make the process smoother
